I have always loved Halloween! Growing up, my three brothers and I would excitedly go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. If I ever felt lost, I’d look for my Dad’s cigar glowing in the dark, my guiding light back to safety.
When I was older I wanted to go out with my older brother trick or treating! He would give me a king-size pillowcase and tell me “If you don’t keep up I’m going to leave you behind!”
Those Halloween nights would be why I never wanted to participate in a marathon! Candy becomes very heavy after a few hours of collection! Needless to say, I was dropped back at the house!
As kids we never learned that fateful lesson about what happened to the candy when we got home. Our parents would look it all over making sure it was safe and give us each a bowl for our stash.
We’d then have to give over half of it to the sick children in hospitals (what the actual HELL!) We couldn’t possibly eat it all…BUT WE TRIED!!!
There are two parts of Halloween I love most. One was making the costumes! My mom was crafty and once made a giant body-sized chicken wire pumpkin. An adorable hobo was another fun one she made.

When I became a mom I’d make costumes out of sweatshirts for my kids. A baby dinosaur 🦖, a tiger 🐅, I made a tooth fairy 🦷, a butterfly 🦋, a vampire 🧛🏻, and of course a witch 🧙🏻.
My introduction to house tours was another huge highlight.
Peering inside neighbors’ living rooms was like stepping into a different world each time. From plastic-covered couches to groovy wallpapers and hidden-away spaces, I adored every moment of running to see the next space. Perhaps this curiosity led me to become a Realtor!
Today’s Halloween is a blend of parties and celebrations with activities such as trick-or-treating, wearing costumes, carving pumpkins and peeking into each other’s homes!
So open the door wide so we can see your wallpaper!
